In about 1990 I got fed up with needing to rely on other musicians to play gigs, that’s when I decided to get serious about the guitar. I started studying jazz and music theory with John Miele, an amazing guitar player and teacher originally from Brooklyn, but who settled down in East Brunswick, NJ. I studied chord melody style solo jazz guitar. I generally only get to play jazz out at weddings or other cocktail party-type events, chord melody and jazz thought processes influence every style of music I play.

Take a deep breath…
I was experimenting with tremolo and reverb. So, “Someone to Watch Over Me” “Solitude” and this slow version of “Stompin’ at the Savoy” (Slummin’ it) are the result. I like how the tremolo reminds me of sax players breathing through their lines.

Kaplan Caluori
Paul Caluori and I met at a local open mic and started playing music in 2004. We play jazz together mostly for weddings and cocktail parties. The guitar and violin works so well for jazz! Here are some examples of our stuff. For duo work we go by the name Kaplan Caluori.
